Montclair schools get small increase in state aid

Montclair is bearing into the 2020-2021 budget season with the prospect of a $7.5 million shortage in its budget. The district presented several adjustments, merely which would silence leave a $2.28 meg shortfall.

Montclair's schools will get a 3.79 percent increase in state aid for the 2020-2021 school year.

The district wish meet $7,894,013, leading from $7,605,632 for 2019-2020: an extra $288,381.

The economic aid numbers were made available Thursday, Feb. 27, two days subsequently Gov. Phil Irish potato delivered his budget address for FY 2021.

However, according to the state funding formula, Montclair is entitled to receive $9,038,249.

The schools are facing a heavy budget deficit. When the budget was ordinal presented, the district said that a shortfall of $7.5 million was expected. The territorial dominion conferred various modifications that would subjugate the deficit, but would still pull up stakes a shortfall of $2.2 million.

Transportation Attention is expected to be $1,175,389, Special Education Aid $5,640,860, and Security Aid $755,225.
